How Tournament Mode works

Everything you need to set up and run a multi-league Sleeper tournament — from importing your leagues to a live playoff bracket.

Setting up, step by step

  1. 1

    Create your tournament

From your dashboard, click “New tournament,” give it a name, and pick the season. You can build everything for free — you only pay to publish it live.

  2. 2

    Add your divisions

Each Sleeper league in your tournament is a “division.” Add them by pasting a league ID, or — the fast way — search a commissioner's Sleeper username to pull all their leagues and bulk-select the ones to import. Imported divisions are tagged with that commish, so you know who runs each league.

  3. 3

    Check settings consistency

Run the settings check to compare scoring, roster, and playoff settings across every division. Matching settings are grouped and confirmed; any mismatch is flagged with the exact value and which league (and commish) is off — so you can get everyone aligned before kickoff. The check warns you on the edit page if you add or change a division afterward.

  4. 4

    Add past champions (optional)

Showcase prior winners — name, year, and optional Sleeper username — on your public page.

  5. 5

    Configure your playoffs

Set when playoffs start and choose pool play or a single-elimination bracket. Define who qualifies with ordered rules (e.g. top 2 by record per division, then the next few by points overall), add byes, set seeding, and optionally turn on carryover scoring. Built-in checks confirm your bracket math and flag if playoffs run into Week 18.

  6. 6

    Sync weekly scores

Click “Sync weekly scores” to pull each division's week-by-week results. This powers regular-season standings and live playoff results. Re-syncing is cheap and only re-pulls divisions whose totals changed — run it after Tuesday/Wednesday stat corrections to keep everything accurate.

  7. 7

    Take it live & share

Publish your tournament and share the public page with every team. They'll see standings, the playoff picture, and live bracket or pool results — no account required — plus a full-screen live view.

FAQ

Do participants need an account?

No. The public tournament page is shareable with anyone via its link — only organizers need an account to create and manage tournaments.

Which seasons work?

Completed seasons have full data immediately. For the current season, setup works anytime in the preseason and standings/results populate automatically once games are played.

How are playoff matchups decided across different leagues?

Tournament opponents are usually in different Sleeper leagues, so we compare each team's points that week (plus carryover, if you enable it). The higher total advances.

What is carryover scoring?

An optional Scott Fish Bowl–style boost: each playoff week, a percentage of a team's regular-season average is added to its weekly score (e.g. 100% week 1, 50% week 2). The average can be fixed, or set to adjust as playoff weeks are played.

How do byes work in pool play?

Bye teams skip the first round and auto-advance. When you set how many teams remain after round one, include the byes in that count (e.g. 10 advancing + 10 byes = 20).

When do scores update?

Whenever you sync. We compare your stored totals against Sleeper's official numbers, so a re-sync catches any stat corrections without re-pulling everything.

What does it cost?

Creating and fully configuring a tournament is free. Publishing it live is a one-time fee per tournament (payments are coming soon).
